Before you begin: install ProductImageSync from the Google Workspace Marketplace. The Marketplace listing goes live with the public release, and the Install buttons on this site will lead there once it is approved.
  1. Make a copy of your sheet tab first

Before running the add-on, make a copy of the sheet tab you want to process (right-click the tab → Duplicate). Running on a copy keeps your original data untouched.

  2. Open the add-on from the Extensions menu

In Google Sheets, click Extensions → ProductImageSync → Open ProductImageSync. The add-on sidebar opens on the right side of your sheet.

  3. Confirm access on the first run

The first time you run it, Google asks you to confirm access to the current spreadsheet. Review the requested permissions and approve to continue.

  4. Select the image column, SKU column, and mode

In the sidebar, choose the column that holds your product images, the column with your SKUs (or article numbers), and the mode you want to run (see Modes below).

  5. Keep the tab and sidebar open until it finishes

Keep the spreadsheet tab and the ProductImageSync sidebar open until processing is complete. Closing the tab or the sidebar mid-run stops the job.

  6. Review the result

Check your spreadsheet — images are placed in cells and/or image URLs are written to the chosen column, with exported files saved to the “ProductImageSync Images” folder in your Google Drive. If a floating image could not be matched confidently, see the ProductImageSync Comment column below.

Modes

Choose how ProductImageSync processes your sheet

Both

Place images into cells and write image URLs into a separate column.

Images in cells only

Place floating images into cells without creating a URL column.

URLs in column only

Export images to Google Drive and write image URLs into a spreadsheet column while leaving the floating images in place.

Review

The ProductImageSync Comment column

ProductImageSync automatically creates a ProductImageSync Comment column when an image needs manual attention.

If the app cannot confidently match a floating image to a product row, it adds a short note. The note may ask you to move the image closer to its intended row or place it manually.

The column is for review only and can be deleted after processing.

For best matching accuracy, keep each floating image mostly within the vertical boundaries of its intended product row. Horizontal overlap is less important.

Common next steps

Import the URLs into your CRM/ERP

Use the generated public image URLs in your CRM, ERP, CMS, PIM, or e-commerce platform's import template.

Share the cleaned sheet

Send the file to a buyer, supplier, or colleague. Anchored images stay in place when they filter or sort.

Repeat on the next catalog

Re-open the add-on on the next product sheet. Your previous column selections are remembered to speed things up.
